Differences between soft-sealed gate valves and hard-sealed gate valves

1. Different sealing materials:

Soft-sealed gate valves use soft materials such as rubber and PTFE as sealing fillers, while hard-sealed gate valves use metal sealing structures, such as metal gaskets and bellows.

2. Different sealing performance:

Soft-sealed gate valves have good sealing performance because they use soft materials as sealing fillers, and they work better under low pressure, low temperature, weak corrosion and other conditions;

Hard-sealed gate valves have higher pressure resistance, temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance, and are suitable for use under harsh conditions such as high pressure, high temperature, and strong corrosion.

3. Different maintenance costs:

Since the sealing material cost of soft-sealed gate valves is relatively low, their maintenance costs are relatively low; while hard-sealed gate valves use metal sealing structures, and sealing gaskets, bellows and other seals need to be replaced regularly, so their maintenance costs are relatively high.

4. Different applicable occasions:

Soft-sealed gate valves are mainly suitable for low-pressure, low-temperature, small-caliber and weakly corrosive media, such as tap water, water supply and drainage, air conditioning, fire protection and other fields; while hard-sealed gate valves are suitable for high-pressure, high-temperature, large-caliber and strongly corrosive media, such as petroleum, chemical industry, electric power and other fields.
